When Firaxis released the fifth Civilization in 2010, many fans of the series easily accepted the long -awaited shifts in mechanics. The battles became much more complicated and more exciting, and the management of the internal policy of civilizations is more diverse and more convenient. But the game also had disadvantages: by the middle of any batch, the pace slowed down greatly, and in the modern era it was sometimes simply there was nothing to do, except, yawning, to wait for victory.
In excellent complement GODS & Kings returned to rethought religion and espionage from the Civilization 4, it became even more fun to play, but sagging in the later stages did not disappear.
Fortunately, the last addon, Brave New World, focusing on industrial eras, not only eliminated tedious, but sometimes illogical moments, https://bof-gb-casino.co.uk/ but also made much more interesting stages of the game. Civilization has never been so exciting.
New old acquaintances
What is the addition without new civilizations. The developers not only returned the Zulus lovers beloved by the players, but also prepared a number of surprises. At the numerous requests of Polish fans, their homeland with the leader Casimir III appeared in the game. Portugal also returned, this time – with significant advantages in trade and a powerful fleet in the middle of the game.
Historically close to Portugal, Brazil was endowed with advantages that can provide a slight cultural victory; The ancient Assyrian Empire acquires one free technology when seizing settlements, and Indonesia – unique resources for the construction of a city on a new continent.
[Bullet]] After the next “carnival” (as for the country it is called the “Golden Age”) in Brazil the real lull.
The most unusual of the new civilizations was Venice. When playing for it, you can not pose your own policies, but you can bribe neutral. Such cities will not go into your possession, but no one forbids to build buildings in them and hire units. In addition, Venice has an extremely powerful fleet and has the best trading bonuses in the game.
“There are no uncultured people, they just have a different culture!"
The mechanism of achieving a cultural victory changed dramatically. As before, museums or opera theaters generate cultural glasses that are spent on the development of public institutions, but in order to emphasize the advantages of your civilization, you need to develop a new parameter – tourism. If very briefly, this is such a “aggressive” indicator of the cultural of your civilization, and the usual glasses are “protective”.
[[Bullet]] The most significant players in the world congress “bend its line”: Brazil does everything to achieve a cultural victory, Venice – scientific.
The value of tourism is increased by some of the wonders of the world, however, the main contribution is made by the same museums and buildings of the opera, if you invite writers, musicians or artists – a new type of great people from Civilization 5. They create valuable works of art that can be placed in special buildings, thus increasing the attractiveness of the city for guests.
In the second half of the game, archaeologists are added to the creative fraternity, who can dig historical artifacts in ancient ruins, thus earning precious bonuses. It is especially fun to steal artifacts in rivals, since their number is limited.
From barter to consumption society
Traditional trade returned with addition. If earlier it came down to a banal barter, then in Brave New World you need to independently equip caravan and ships, and then set the initial and final points of the route to them. Trade brings not only mountains of gold, but also helps to spread religion and develop science between states. By the way, during the war, players can rob and destroy enemy trade routes, which causes a strong economic damage to the opponent.
[[Bullet]] Maria I, ruler of Portugal.
New categories have appeared on the tab of public institutions. “Aesthetics” accelerates the development of culture, “travels” gives advantages for naval trade and production in coastal cities, without “will” do not lay the pyramids (here really), and only civilization that chose the “order” can build the Kremlin.
By the way, “order”, and with it “autocracy” and “freedom” were allocated into a separate laying of ideological doctrines, and their capabilities expanded. For example, “Freedom” will allow you to buy the components of a spacecraft for a scientific victory over time, and the choice of “order” will provide you with a free court building in a captured city.
The choice of ideology also affects relations with other civilizations: democracies will unite against communism, and autocrats will probably try to win their weaker neighbor.
International relations
But the main diamond of additions is the world congress (as technology develops into the UN), which includes all the leaders on the map. This is such a powerful political lever that allows you to crush rivals one after another. Even a weak civilization using the services of diplomats and bribes can lobby for resolutions beneficial for itself (for example, certain resources will be prohibited in trade or an embargo on another player is generally imposed) and thus wipe his nose with clumsy rivals.
[Bullet]] The power of Venetian trade is supported by the power of its fleet.
But that's not all. With the help of resolutions, you can accelerate the pace of the appearance of great people in all countries or increase the cost of army maintenance. Congress also initiates the creation of a global project – a special structure, which is simultaneously building all the states of the planet. After the completion of construction, each country receives bonuses depending on its contribution to the common cause. For example, the Olympic Games will bring the winner a great increase in tourism points, and the erection of the International Space Station will give advantages when creating a spacecraft.
Not without the obligatory for any addition to new units (XCOM fighters, huge humanoid robots) and game scenarios. One of them, “Fight for Africa”, transfers us in the middle of the 19th century, where we need to play for one of the imperialist powers or local natives in the battle for the continent. The second scenario reproduces the most dramatic episode of the Civil War in the United States. You have to lead to victory either the forces of the United or Confederate States of America. Well, really on the little things: the performance of the Civilization 5 with a new addition has increased noticeably.
On magazine pages, we have repeatedly noted how we love the series of the name of Sid Meyer and that it, as it were softer, does not really need continuing. No matter what the last part you take – you can play in any years, periodically throwing it and returning to it again. Because the concept of "civilization" is monumental as much as the pyramids mentioned above are monumental as monumental.
But how nice it is to make mistakes from year to year. The fifth Civilization was better than the fourth, and Brave New World – most additions in a few years.

Waited?
In the entire history of Civilization, no addition has introduced as much interesting into the series as Brave New World. The developers decided on large and, more importantly, successful changes, bringing the concept invented long ago to an almost perfect form.
