Yes, we perfectly understand that it is unlikely that anyone can afford this, but it is impossible to pass by AEGIS TI5: MSI came up with really something new and, perhaps, in the future these ideas will go into more affordable market segments.

Configuration

Purely theoretically, AEGIS Ti5 can be delivered in any configurations: despite the futuristic appearance, in practice it is a regular PC in which you can put at least Ryzen 3 at all without video cards, at least a monster Intel Core i9-10900K With RTX 3090. In life, however, cheap configurations are not planned: the computer was ranked for the MeG series, and this in the MSI language means all the most expensive and powerful.

While AEGIS Ti5 is collected only on Intel. The basis is the motherboard on Intel Z490 – through Hwinfo it breaks out as MSI MS-B9311 And, in theory, it was made specifically for this computer. Delivery and appearance

AEGIS is supplied in a huge box, which would even have a Super Full Tower, but the PC itself takes up much space: they caught up with the volume to protect the case. There are two boxes at once with the total thickness of the walls of a centimeter one and a half plus huge pieces of foamed polyethylene with ribs almost six centimeters. At the same time, the PC is still additionally covered with a cloth cover on the ties, and with it lies a small box with the equipment in which there were instructions, two SATA cables and a healthy rag with a msi log for wiping.

It is pointless to describe the appearance of aegis ti5 – it’s easier to look at the photographs – so we will better tell you how and from what all this is collected. The main material from which the forms were sculpted is plastic. Side panels, a wheel-rinse, a regulator in the center, as well as the front and upper parts are made from it. Moreover, the latter are glossy, and dust will have to be washed from them regularly. Note that the plastic itself is of high quality: fat and hard, but, to our taste, at this cost it was necessary to do everything from metal – it would have turned out much more solid.

At the same time, inside, under plastic, the standard metal case of an approximate format is hidden as Mini-Tower for MATX pay. A powerful handle is screwed from the back to him on the screws, for which the computer can be transferred without fear from place to place. At the back from below, under a plastic lining, a slot under a hard drive is hidden, and a place for a power supply in a round leg is hidden. On the floor, the structure is based on a metal leg with a rubber gluing that does not allow. There are no questions for stiffness to the structure, but you still can’t deceive physics: the upper part is a little spring under its own weight. We also note that the front panel has two advanced headphone holders. They are 9 cm in length, so they will fit the headsets even with the widest head.

As you probably already noticed in the photo, the computer is literally dotted with backlighting. It is made qualitatively: through the program Mystic Light You can manage any element, and the ribbons are selected so that all shades clearly coincide with each other. The upper cover is translucent here, and when you turn on the bulbs under it, a video card is visible.

Wheel

Well, the main AEGIS Ti5 element is a huge regulator in the center of the case called Gaming Knob. This is a large button with a twisting ring around and a built -in display with a diagonal of 1.3 inches. By default, the wheel is responsible for adjusting the volume in Windows, and an animated dragon is quite frivolous for such a computer. True, it can be changed, but frankly, the scheme is difficult: you need to independently prepare the picture 240×240 (and if you want animation, then a few pictures with a total volume of no more than 3 MB) and load it through the Dragon Center.

If you press on the screen and turn the regulator, then Gaming Knob will switch to other modes of operation: backlight, launch of applications, resource monitoring, switching of the sound profiles of Nahimic, turning on the Gaming Mode mode, controlling musical or video player, as well as memory cleaning. In the process you choose the desired point, press on the screen, and you are already transferring you to additional settings. Which one, you choose in the Dragon Center program.

In it, you can prescribe in advance backlight options, choose which parameters will be displayed when the resource monitoring is turned on, and even derive the weather forecast. Programs for launching are also tied here – and even an image of a label is picked up, which is displayed on the display. Here, however, DC needs a direct path to an exe file: with the labels of the desktop, he is not friends.

In general, Gaming Knob really works, and within the framework of game PCs this is an extremely cool idea that really wants to use. However, in some places the system requires finalization. Firstly, it would be better to make the ring itself more solid and smooth: now it is plastic and too light. Secondly, Dragon Center must be facilitated and accelerated. Thirdly, the ring must be unscrewed from control through DC, because if the computer is loaded with any rendering, then the screen does not respond to actions. The rest of the system definitely deserves attention and further development.

Inside

Let's get back to the iron. Despite, to put it mildly, an unusual layout, everything is sorted out simply. Four screws hold the side covers, another – the lower one, covering HDD. Two seats for 2.5-inch drives are hidden behind the right cover. For the left – the radiator of the processor yogo and the free slot PCIe X16. If necessary, you can dig deeper, disassemble everything to the base and collect your configuration: the components are standard, only unusually located. The main compartment of the case for better cooling is divided into two parts: in the upper there is a video card, in the lower one – everything else, including a double processor COO.

MSI itself calls the cooling scheme Silent Storm Cooling 4. Its idea is precisely in separation of iron into four compartments so that the components do not warm each other. Thus, engineers cost only three turntables in the main compartment: on the front wall, on the back and on the back of the motherboard, opposite the processor socket.

Defult settings do not help: that in the Extreme Performance mode, that only the processor frequencies and permissible maximum temperatures are changing in Silent. However, if you rebuild the fan graphs manually-through the Hardware Monitor in BIOS-then in the office mode the computer will barely move over 32 dB, which is already on the border of audibility.

As for the effectiveness of cooling, the video card in half an hour in Metro: Exodus rises to a temperature of 89 ° C. And the processor gains 61 ° in 3DS MAX And Prime95 and 45-50 ° C in games. The frequencies are absolutely normal: 4 GHz under the AVX, 4.6 during rendering and 4.7 GHz in games for all eight cores.

Results

In life, this allowed the system to be even faster than the same RTX 3070 in conjunction with Ryzen R7 5800X. In Full HD, almost all games hold about 80 FPS – only Cyberpunk 2077 shows less, although she and the last patch finally exceeded the mark of 63 frames. The treasured 60 FPS stepped over Metro: Exodus with the full RTX and without DLSS. Close to this mark I got and Watch Dogs: Legion : She scored 52 frames per second with reiteraining.

Normally the computer copes with QHD.
